Along with Miles Davis and John Coltrane, Evans is one of the towering figures of modern jazz. The pianist inspired an entire generation of pianists to follow him. Throughout his career, he played continuously in the classic jazz trio setting. From 1956 until his death in 1980, some 20 different musicians were thus at his side in changing ensembles.
